Every September, our hometown of Arcola, IL comes alive for one of Central Illinois’s most iconic events: the Arcola Broomcorn Festival! With over 60,000 visitors flocking to downtown, this annual celebration honors Arcola’s rich broomcorn history—dating all the way back to 1859—and brings the community together for a weekend of fun, tradition, and local pride.

What Is the Arcola Broomcorn Festival?
Held the weekend after Labor Day since 1972, the Broomcorn Festival is a major cultural event in East Central Illinois. It's a nod to Arcola’s past as the “Broomcorn Capital of the World” and a celebration of the people and traditions that continue to make this town so special.
Festival highlights include:
National Broom Sweeping Contest (yes, that’s a real thing!)
Lively parade featuring the world-famous Lawn Rangers
Over 150 arts & crafts vendors and food booths
Broom-making demonstrations in the Broom Tent
Live music and entertainment throughout the weekend
Carnival rides, pageants, tractor pulls, and more!
The entire town transforms into a festive space for families, friends, and visitors.
